Certifications to Ask For When Importing Himalayan Pink Salt

Core Certifications for Food-Grade Salt
At minimum, ask your supplier for ISO 22000:2018 (food safety management) and HACCP certification (hazard analysis and critical control points). These two cover the baseline expectations of most food safety authorities.

Certifications for Specific Markets
If you’re importing into the US, confirm the facility is FDA registered. If you’re serving Muslim-majority markets or halal retail channels, confirm Halal certification. Kosher certification can also be arranged on request for many suppliers.

Per-Shipment Paperwork
Beyond standing certifications, ask what’s issued per shipment: Certificate of Origin, Phytosanitary Certificate, Lab Analysis Report (COA), and Fumigation Certificate are commonly required depending on your destination country’s import rules.

Why This Protects You
Missing documentation is one of the most common reasons shipments get held at customs. Confirming exactly which certificates you need before the order ships, rather than after it arrives, is the simplest way to avoid delays.
